Grace Period

Grace Period is defined as the time between the day you are no longer enrolled in school at least half time and the day you are required to begin making payments on your Stafford Loan.

The six-month grace period is only available for subsidized and unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans, not parent PLUS or grad PLUS loans.

You are responsible for paying interest that accrues during the grace period for unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans. Even though you are not required to make interest payments during your grace period, do so whenever possible. You can save yourself a considerable amount of money.
