Meeting notes -- July 29, 2004
The meeting was held at the DHE annex. Joe Lange hosted. Dave Oehler served as historian. 10:00 Welcome, agenda preview
Minutes of the prior meeting were approved.
10:13 Value added (CLA) Project & MAC involvement (RS)
Thirty-two institutions are participating. A little over $50,000 has been raised in Missouri . RAND will also be contributing $50,000, and additional external funds are being sought. If enough funding is secured this could become a multiple year process. Fall testing will be conducted between August 30 and October 15 (current date proposal).
RAND will allow breaking the testing into smaller time blocks. Faculty will have the opportunity to interact with the testing materials. RAND will need student identifiers, but institutions will provide those. There is an interesting discussion going on with their IRB ? this is still unfolding.
MAC requested that a copy of the MOU be sent to the listserv so that members can get a sense of what may need to be done.

Delores passed around a listing of institutional web sites for us to check for accuracy. When this is fully cleaned up she will send another version.
11:05 MAC activity and impact on accreditation ? PEAQ accreditation criteria (CVM)
Charles spoke briefly about the ?bench audit? that is used at MCC.
These institutions are using AQIP: Crowder, East Central, Missouri Western. These institutions are considering: State Fair, Mineral Area, Jefferson, OTC, Northwest, Missouri Southern.
11:12 Evaluation of Assessment Instruments (MG)
Postponed due to Mike being on vacation.
Use the same form from the past for evaluating the CLA.
11:15 Joint meeting with CAOs (MG, DO, CVM)
Postponed. We believe the next CAO meeting will be sometime in September.
11:17 Data sharing project (RP)
In Ron's absence, Delores reported on a proposal to include wage data in the data sharing project. Joe reported on some projects he's been working on at Jefferson .
Dave requested a showcase from Ron and Joe on their use of the EMSAS data at a future meeting.
11:44 Remedial instruction/placement in the transition from K-12 to higher education (CVM)
Charles spoke about the analysis and use of data at MCC regarding placement in developmental education courses. The question was raised as to what MAC wants to do with this agenda item. This will be addressed more directly by the two-year sector with a periodic report back to the full group.
11:48 Announcements
CMSU and State Fair presidents met and assessment was an important part of the discussion.
Next meeting date: With MidAIR sometime during Nov 10-12 at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, Overland Park, KS . We will hold an ITV meeting very soon after the CLA MOU is completed.
Next meeting host: Pat Gillman will host the meeting at MidAIR.
Dave Oehler will serve as historian if he is able to attend.
