Credit Hours to be Provided: 3 graduate credit hours

Project Summary:
This three year program will provide professional development to 30 Mathematics and Science teachers, from the south central region of Missouri, in inquiry-based methods that can be utilized to educate children from high-poverty and underserved areas. An integrated approach that highlights the synergy between science experimentation and the use of mathematics to model and understand experimental data will be utilized to enhance learning.; This year will train 7th and 8th grade teachers. Instructional material will be developed through a cooperative effort between three Education, Mathematics, and Science Faculty members at the University of Missouri-Rolla, several teachers from the participating schools and two master teachers. The project will address the needs of the participating schools, their teachers, and students.
